A family run building company which has been running for over 100 years and four generations, with a turnover of around £3.5 million, contacted us to assist them with keeping all their compliance documentation in order. Being a well-established company and growing all the time, they approached us to take on this specialist administration task.
We introduced them to our KCS ComplianceManaged® portal and showed them how our system could benefit their company, saving them both time and money in the long run. ComplianceManaged® is a cloud-based solution which keeps compliance documentation up to date and in one place, highlighting when accreditations are due for renewal. Audits and reviews can also benefit from the portal. The system is personalised to each clients’ needs and access is enabled making sure each member of staff can only see what their job role allows them to see.
As part of their monthly subscription to our Compliancemanaged® Advanced Plus package, we manage their accreditation renewals on their behalf and have also added a number of their subcontractors onto the system so they can monitor the necessary paperwork for each contractor too. This has made the subcontractor vetting process more streamlined and efficient for our clients, and they are no longer reliant on chasing certificates and documentation by email during contract delivery.
Another advantage of Advanced Plus members of ComplianceManaged®, is we manage all our client’s Health & Safety documents throughout the year, keeping everything up to date. This means when items such as Constructionline or CHAS are up for renewal, we complete the process quickly and efficiently on behalf of our client. In 2020 there were added requirements regarding COVID-19 and we were able to support our client in completing these to demonstrate how they are complying with government guidance to protect their staff and customers during the pandemic.
Constructionline is a founder member of Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP). SSIP was developed to alleviate the need for construction companies to undergo multiple stage one Health and Safety assessments. The scheme acts as an umbrella body to facilitate mutual recognition between different health and safety schemes.
CHAS (The Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme) is a preapproved scheme which allows contractors to demonstrate to potential clients that they meet the required health & safety standards.
The purpose of CHAS certification is to assist buyers as well as suppliers in the process of health and safety competence assessment. Being CHAS certified minimises duplication as prospective clients accept the compliance of the supplier. This can save a company hours of form-filling for Health and Safety purposes with many different customers. It makes it easy for potential clients to gain an insight into your working standards too, in terms of health and safety. Some buyers may require the suppliers to be CHAS certified or accredited before allowing a tender to be submitted or works to commence on site, so having one can certainly help win new business especially when working in the Public Sector.
